A German Day will take place during the first edition of RomeFilmFest. On Tuesday October 17, five new German films will be presented to international buyers in a movie theatre in the Via Veneto area. In the evening, an official reception will inaugurate the event. On that very same day, several German movies will be screened as a part of the official program of the Festa. And there’s more. German film projects will be presented at the New Cinema Network, the RomeFilmFest section devoted to young filmmakers who will thus have the chance of presenting a new project to distributors and producers alike.
On the morning of Wednesday October 18, the “Incontro Italo-Tedesco” (Italian-German Meeting) on the topic of the co-productions between both countries and the different sorts of collaboration that are feasible. Case studies will be used to highlight the particularities and problems of co-production and create as well a common ground for producers from both countries, so they can get to know each other’s projects through workshops and meetings. The co-production meeting is the perfect complement to the New Cinema Network, according to the German Day organizers. In the afternoon, a panel will be scheduled and its participants will analyse the market strategies of their home countries. In this way German cinema continues its collaboration with the city of Rome beyond the Festival of German Films, where a number of new movies were presented. Therefore, RomeFilmFest stands as a further opportunity to draw the attention of Italian and international film professionals to new German products.
