The International Rome Film Festival is set to be a permanent fixture on the international film festival calendar. The confirmation comes from the festival’s Board of Founding Members, which met on the eve of the Christmas holidays. After carefully evaluating the figures for the first three editions of the International Film Festival, the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno; the President of the Province of Rome, Nicola Zingaretti; the General Secretary of the Lazio Region, Francesco Gesualdi; the President of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Andrea Mondello; and the CEO of the Fondazione Musica per Roma, Carlo Fuortes have agreed to renew their support of the festival and provide it with all-important continuity. The new dates for the event are: October 15th-23rd, 2009; October 29th-November 6th, 2010; and October 28th– November 8th, 2011.
The Rome City Council, the Lazio Region, the Province of Rome, and the Rome Chamber of Commerce have thus confirmed their support of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma. In light of the overall economic crisis in which Italy finds itself at the present time, and in line with agreements made in recent years to gradually reduce the budget, the founding members have decided on a ceiling of 4 million euros for their contribution to the festival. In 2009 the overall budget for the festival is projected at roughly 10 million euros, a figure which could, however, go up to 13 million euros with contributions from private sponsors.
