Kenneth Branagh, one of the most influential filmmakers of his generation, sets his new film during the conflict in Belfast, Northern Ireland, at the end of the 1960s. The main character is young Buddy, a nine-year-old boy who, surrounded by his family, dreams of a future of redemption and success, all while his city is disrupted by clashes and violence.
