Fondazione Cinema per Roma presents the Casa del Cinema programme for the month of January.
From January 10th to 26th, there will be a retrospective of twelve films to celebrate the work of Carlo Mazzacurati, who passed away ten years ago. Many of the protagonists of Italian cinema will be there to introduce his films to the audience: they include Paola Cortellesi, who will open the cycle of screenings, Nanni Moretti, Valentina Lodovini, Antonio Albanese, Valerio Mastandrea, Isabella Ragonese and Giuseppe Battiston.
From January 8th to 29th, the film series “Registi si diventa” will feature a series of nine films made by great actors who have successfully taken their place behind the camera.
On the anniversary of the birth of Ettore Petrolini, from January 13th to 20th, the cycle of screenings “Petrolini & Proietti” will celebrate the genius of early twentieth-century popular comic theatre, together with his sole heir and absolute admirer Gigi Proietti. On the stage will be the filmmaker and actor Edoardo Leo, who will present the documentary Luigi Proietti detto Gigi to the audience. Furthermore, through February 6th, Casa del Cinema will host the photography exhibition “Caro Petrolini… Ma l’Amore Mio non muore mai”, produced by Casa del Cinema with Civita Mostre e Musei under the auspices of the Presidency of the Committee for Culture, Science and Education of the Chamber of Deputiesin collaboration with Fondazione Gigi Proietti e SIAE.
On Tuesday January 23rd, there will be a screening of L’impero della natura. Una notte al parco del Colosseo by Luca Lancise and Marco Gentili, a film that won the “Il Viaggio in Italia” Prize, under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Enit – the National Tourist Agency, awarded on the occasion of the eighteenth Rome Film Fest.
The January programme will also feature a new event in collaboration with Galleria Borghese: the screening of Tiziano. L’impero del colore by Laura Chiossone and Giulio Boato (Monday January 22nd), while on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, there will be a screening of Jojo Rabbit by Taika Waititi.
