During the thirteenth Rome Film Fest, Casa del Jazz in Rome will host “The Magic Chord: Cinema and Jazz”, three events curated by Luciano Linzi and Mario Sesti. The programme will open tomorrow, Friday October 12 at 9 pm, with the screening of Cocktail Bar, a documentary by Stefano Landini and Tony Lama. The film retraces the remarkable adventure of the Music Inn, a legendary Roman club which has featured the greatest jazz musicians of all time, such as Charles Mingus, Dexter Gordon, Max Roach, Gato Barbieri and Massimo Urbani.
The second event will take place on Monday October 22 at 9 pm: pianist, composer and arranger Enrico Pieranunzi will be the protagonist of an onstage conversation devoted to Herbie Hancock and his soundtracks, including those written for Blow-Up by Michelangelo Antonioni, Death Wish by Michael Winner and Round Midnight by Bertrand Tavernier.
“The Magic Chord: Cinema and Jazz” will close on Saturday October 27, at 9 pm, with Lino Patruno, who will turn his attention to one of the most beloved filmmakers of all time, four-time Oscar® winner Woody Allen. The musician will focus on Allen’s passion for jazz showing how the great American jazz music of the 1930s and ‘40s played a fundamental role in many films by the New York artist.
