Cosa sarà by Francesco Bruni will be the closing film of the fifteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest which will take place from 15 to 25 October 2020 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. This was announced by Artistic Director Antonio Monda, in agreement with Laura Delli Colli, President of Fondazione Cinema per Roma and General Manager Francesca Via. The fifteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest will be part of Romarama, the program of cultural events promoted by Roma Capitale.
Francesco Bruni is an award-winning screenwriter, author of films such as Ovosodo, La prima cosa bella, Il capitale umano by Paolo Virzì, with whom he has had an important artistic collaboration for years, and of TV series such as Il commissario Montalbano. The Roman filmmaker returns to direction after three successful films: Scialla! (Stai sereno), Noi 4 and Tutto quello che vuoi. The movie stars Kim Rossi Stuart as Bruno Salvati: Bruno’s life is stalled, he has never made successful films and his producer struggles to set up the next project. His wife Anna, whom he recently separated from, already seems to have someone else by her side. Bruno cannot be for his children Adele and Tito the present and reliable father he would like to be. One day Bruno discovers that he has a form of leukemia. He immediately relies on a competent and tenacious hematologist, who accompanies him on what will be a real obstacle course towards healing. The first goal is to find a compatible stem cell donor: after a few unsuccessful attempts, Bruno begins to be seriously afraid. By revealing a secret from his past, his father Umberto kindles a new hope in everyone’s hearts. Bruno and his family embark on an unexpected path of rebirth which will change their relationships and will teach Bruno to raise his eyes and look at others. The film – produced by Palomar and Vision Distribution – will be released on October 29th. “Francesco Bruni manages to tell a drama that struck him personally with intelligence and depth – explained Artistic Director Antonio Monda – He also manages to entertain, in the best humanist tradition of Italian comedy, without being afraid of feelings”.
In collaboration with SIAE, Rome Film Fest 2020 edition’s red carpet will be dedicated to the genius of Ennio Morricone, who passed away on July 6th: the music of Maestro Morricone will accompany stars, guests and the public along the red carpet of the Auditorium Parco della Musica. Morricone has been protagonist of the Film Fest since its beginning: he directed two unforgettable concerts during the first and second editions, he was at the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Sergio Leone in 2009, he took part in an extraordinary Close Encounter in 2010, he was jury President in 2011 and he was guest on many other occasions.
“An unprecedented red carpet with music will be rolled out as our special tribute to Maestro Ennio Morricone, a great composer much loved not only for his evergreen soundtracks which gave us extraordinary music in half a century but also for the notes and rhythms that entered our lives even through a lot of pop music – said President Laura Delli Colli – With his unforgettable soundtracks, in a ‘temple’ of music such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica which has just been named after him, we will remember, with great affection, the Oscar® winner so much admired by Leone, Tornatore and Tarantino but also the lesser known and ‘pop’ Morricone, composer or arranger of songs that go from Se telefonando to Sapore di sale, Il mondo and even Abbronzatissima, which have become for all of us the leitmotifs of a daily memory that will keep on playing in our lives”.
“Ennio Morricone was a genius of music and film and I am honored to celebrate him in his beloved city – added Antonio Monda – For ten days during the Rome Film Fest his legendary music will be the only one to play on the red carpet”.
