#RomaFF14 | “Duel” and “Loyalty/Betryals”, two new sections launched by the 14th Rome Film Fest get underway

Starting on Friday, October 18^th, Rome Film Fest inaugurates two new sections: “Duel” and “Loyalty/Betrayals”.
For the first of these, thirty personalities from the arts face off in pairs, discussing their differences over issues related to film and the audiovisual industry in general. For the second, thirteen well-known authors and actors comment on the screen adaptations of famous literary works. The two new formats are open to the public free of charge and will be held mainly at the MACRO Asilo. Other venues include Palazzo Altemps – Museo Nazionale Romano, Palazzo Merulana, the MAXXI and the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
The programme for “Loyalty/Betrayals” kicks off on Friday, October 18^th at 4 pm, at the Teatro Studio Gianni Borgna Sala SIAE, with author Melania Mazzucco, winner of the Strega Prize for her novel Vita, sharing her views on the relationship between a literary classic, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper, and its screen version. The talks continue in the days to follow, and will feature speakers Gian Arturo Ferrari, Lila Azam Zanganeh, Valerio Magrelli, Luca Barbareschi, Pierluigi Battista, Edoardo Albinati, Francesco Piccolo, Sandro Veronesi, Anselma Dell’Olio, Fabrizio Gifuni, Paolo di Paolo, and Gaetano Cappelli.
The “Duel” lineup makes its debut on Saturday, October 19^th at 11 am at Palazzo Altemps, with the “challenge” featuring the Artistic Director of the Rome Film Fest, Antonio Monda, and Francesco Chiamulera, founder and director of the festival “Una Montagna di Libri”, the talk series “Incontri con l’autore” in Cortina, and the Cortina d’Ampezzo Literary Award. The bone of contention is Sunset Boulevard by Billy Wilder and All About Eve by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, two cult films that came out in 1950. Both pictures provide a surprising perspective on stardom and the star system.
This is just the first “Duel” on a slate that sees filmmakers, journalists, actors, film critics, and many other personalities from entertainment and the arts in general go head to head: Cristina Comencini vs. Piero Maccarinelli, Emiliano Morreale vs. Caterina D’Amico, Francesco Zippel vs. Simone Emiliani, Elena Stancanelli vs. Michele Masneri, Giona A.
