“A Journey Through American Cinema” : An Encounter with the Actors Studio

Jane Fonda, Cloris Leachman, and Shirley Knight: three doyennes of the cinema meet the public in a special edition of ‘A Journey Through American Cinema,’ curated by Antonio Monda and Mario Sesti, and dedicated to the Actors Studio: the Girls of the 70s. After the runaway success of this tribute event at the festival’s debut in 2006, the Actors Studio, the legendary acting school and workshop founded in New York in 1947, is being feted once again this year by the RomeFilmFest.

On Monday, October 22nd at 5pm in the Sala Teatro Studio, the three actresses will star in a conversation/interview which will see them fielding first thought-provoking questions from Antonio Monda and Mario Sesti, and then questions from the audience at large. The subject? Their working knowledge of the Actors Studio’s famous ‘Method,’ their careers, and their personal as well as other professional experiences.

The Actors Studio event marks another milestone in the ‘Journey Through American Cinema,’ after the extraordinary success of the conversations with great filmmakers held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome last season. Film greats in attendance included: Michael Cimino, Ethan Hawke, Jim Jarmusch, Sydney Pollack, Joel and Ethan Coen, Sidney Lumet, and David Lynch, as well as actresses of the caliber of Frances McDormand.
