Open Season, the first computer-generated feature animation film produced by Sony and directed by one of Lion King’s directors; Over the Hedge, from the creators of Shrek and Madagascar and  distributed by UIP (United International Pictures); Gian Paolo Cugno’s Salvatore – This is Life, starring Enrico Lo Verso, Galatea Ranzi, Giancarlo Giannini ed Alessandro Malli with a Paolo Di Reda’s script, the first Italian film entirely produced by Walt Disney. This is a part of  Alice nella città ’s program, the festival within the RomeFilmFest, completely devoted to the youngest and their universe, which was presented today on the press conference held at the Foyer of the Auditorium’s Sinopoli Hall. In attendance were Carlo Fuortes, Musica per Roma’s CEO, Enrico Gasbarra, president of the Province of Rome, Gianluca Giannelli, director of Alice nella città and Fabia Bettini, responsible of the festival’s program. Besides, the activities and events to be held all over the city’s territory were presented.

 

Alice nella città involves a film and literary competition. The cinema section is composed of 16 feature films, coming from every corner of the world, on themes related to the family, the growing process and the search of the own roots, both in the K12 section, devoted to the youngest, and the Young Adults section, for the teens.

The selection comprises productions from the USA (Doug Sadler’s Swimmers), English (Rupert Grint’s Driving Lessons), Switzerland (Freddi Murer’s Vitus, starring Bruno Ganz) and Brazil (Breno Silveira’s Two sons of Francisco). Besides, animation movies such as Serge Elissalde and Grégoire Solotareff’s U and Azur et Asmar by the great animation filmmaker Michel Ocelot. Only one Italian film in the Competition section, Liscio, directed by Claudio Antonimi, starring Laura Morante.

Big premières join forces with the competition: Open Season by Jill Culton and Roger Allers; Over the Hedge by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick; Rosso come il cielo – Red Like the Sky by Cristiano Bortone, in collaboration with Unicef and Nos jours Hereux – Those Happy Days by the duo Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, special event RomeFilmFest – Alice nella Città.

Besides, there is a selection of 20 short movies, 10 in the K12 section and 10 in Young Adults.

Regarding the literary section, 5 books will compete for the Ungari Unicef award: Il bambino con il pigiama a righe by John Boyne, La notte di Q by Micheal Reynolds, A piedi nudi a cuore aperto by Paola Zannoner, Nato straniero by Janna Carioli and La ragazza chissachì by Sara Weeks.
