An exhibition and a book by Matthew Modine to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Full Metal Jacket” by Stanley Kubrick

For the 25th anniversary of Stanely Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, the Rome Film Festival pays homage to Kubrick’s masterpiece with an exhibition of photographs, “Full Metal Jacket Diary Redux”, which will be inaugurated at 11 AM in the foyer of the Sala Sinopoli at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The photos have been taken on-set during the historic filming by Matthew Modine, the young talented actor chosen by Stanley Kubrick to star in and portray Joker, a Combat Correspondent recruited by Marines.

With his shoots, Modine gives a never before shown behind the scenes view of the almost two years filming Kubrick’s tale of boot camp and war. During the filming, Kubrick allows Modine to use a camera, something almost unheard of on a Kubrick set. Through a medium format twin-lens reflex, with actual film, Modine gives the viewer a personal, poetic knowledge of the backstage of filming what has been described as one of the greatest war films ever made. The exhibition is curated by the Solares Fondazione delle Arti.

During the Festival, there will also be a presentation of the book “Full Metal Jacket Diary” by Matthew Modine (published in the Italian version by MoreMondadori) and Full Metal Joker, a provocative documentary dedicated by Emiliano Montanari to the “Joker” Matthew Modine. Before the documentary, Kubrick’s masterpiece will be screened in the version restored for the 25th anniversary.
