In the wake of the Dalai Lama’s cancellation of his trip to Europe for health reasons, the Rome International Film Festival has decided to suspend the day-long event dedicated to the Tibetan people and their spiritual leader, which had been jointly organized with the Province of Rome.
The Dalai Lama had planned to visit Rome on the 8th of October. On that occasion, Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, together with filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci and Goffredo Bettini as ambassador for the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, was scheduled to meet the public at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
The President of the Rome International Film Festival, Gian Luigi Rondi; the entire Board of Directors of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma; the President of the Province of Rome, Nicola Zingaretti; and Goffredo Bettini all would like to wish the Dalai Lama a speedy recovery, and very much hope to see him in Rome next year.
