Release – Sean Connery to receive Actor’s Craft Award

Sean Connery will be the first recipient of the new RomeFilmFest’s Acting Award, the prize for the actor’s craft established by CINEMA. Festa Internazionale di Roma in collaboration with IMAIE (Institute that protects Performing Artist´s rights). And it is the Scottish-born actor who will be the focus of the Festival’s first important retrospective: 14 films starring Connery and selected by the actor together with the festival staff,  ranging from From Russia with Love (1963) to Finding Forrester (2000).

For two days Connery will be the darling not only of the Rome FilmFest, but of the entire city of Rome. Indeed, on the 14th of October the Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, will also award the actor with the City of Rome Prize.
Along with the Acting Award there are three official Festival awards: the Awards for Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress, which will be bestowed by the People’s Jury presided over by Ettore Scola. The designers of the official statuettes for the Rome FilmFest are the artists at Bulgari, taking the Roman equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius as their inspiration.
Exceptional mascot of the information campaign for this new international film event will be none other than the Capitoline she-wolf, suckling Romulus and Remus, legendary founders of Rome. The Festival’s first publicity campaign will debut next July 8th.
