Preparations are at an advanced stage for the Cinema Village, the welcome centre planned to offer information and services for participants at the RomeFilmFest. The facility will be for those attending screenings, exhibitions and meetings at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and other locations in the city from the 13th to the 21st October, 2006. The steel and plexiglass structure equipped to receive up to 30,000 people will be built between the Viale Pietro de Coubertin road and the Auditorium, using designs from the Alvisi-Kirimoto studio, overviewed by Renzo Piano. The building will be home to an info-point, providing details about the programme, routes through the city, ticket sales and screening rooms. The Village will contain various refreshment outlets (4 restaurants with different menus and prices, open from 0900 to 0200) and will also provide facilities like a baby parking, with room for up to 50 children a day. There will be a currency exchange, a travel and tourism agency, a small hairdresser, an area reserved for sponsors, a left-luggage facility and a VIP terrace, with space for interviews, TV sets and a photographers’ area.
But the Auditorium Village will not be the only facility of its kind in Rome during the FilmFest: other centres providing information and assistance for those attending the event will be created along the route, from the centre to the suburbs, in locations like Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese, the Via Veneto, Cinecittà, Largo dei Sanniti and Piazza Augusto Imperatore.
