Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma meets the Rome Film Fest for three evening events, when the Capital city opera house becomes a movie theatre for three screenings that illustrate the courageous path undertaken by the Teatro dell’Opera during this difficult pandemic year. The first evening will be dedicated to the production of Rigoletto that was staged during the summer of 2020 at the Circus Maximus, the first new opera production scheduled in Europe after the lockdown. It will feature the world premiere of two original new projects: the film-opera Rigoletto al Circo Massimo by Damiano Michieletto, which offers a cinematic experience of the opera, followed by the documentary Rigoletto 2020. Nascita di uno spettacolo by Enrico Parenti, which was inspired by the story of how the opera was conceived and developed. On the second evening, the audience can watch the two new opera productions on the big screen, Il Barbiere di Siviglia and La Traviata, directed by Mario Martone and conducted by Daniele Gatti. Filmed during the 2020-21 season of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in collaboration with Rai Cultura, and both broadcast on the Rai network, they have become the symbol of a Theatre that did not surrender to its empty seats. The last of the three evenings will be dedicated to an exceptional event: In questa storia che è la mia, the total opera-concert recorded in 2021 at the Teatro dell’Opera with words and music by Claudio Baglioni, under the artistic direction of Giuliano Peparini and with the artistic ensembles of the Teatro dell’Opera.

Tickets may be purchased for the Film Fest screenings held at the Teatro dell’Opera starting October 7, 2021, at the ticket office of the theater itself (Piazza Beniamino Gigli). Hours: Mon-Sat from 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 9:00 to 13:30. Ticket purchase available also online on the website www.operaroma.it. Ticket price: from € 8 to € 12.
