The fourth edition of Extra Doc Festival, the competition dedicated to the best works by Italian documentary filmmmakers, ended with the bestowing of two main awards: “Best Italian Documentary Of the Year” to We Are the Thousand. The incredible story of Rockin ‘1000 by Anita Rivaroli, and “Extra Doc CityFest” Award to Disco Ruin – 40 years of Italian Club Culture by Lisa Bosi and Francesca Zerbetto.
The prizes were assigned by the Extra Doc Festival jury, chaired by director Agostino Ferrente and composed by editor Esmeralda Calabria, journalist and film critic Fulvia Caprara, artist Gea Casolaro, journalist Virman Cusenza and director Sydney Sibilia.
Two Special Mentions were also awarded: the first Mention was decided by a Panel of Experts – composed by Laura Delli Colli (President of Fondazione Cinema per Roma) and Giovanna Melandri (President of Fondazione MAXXI) – and went to Pino by Walter Fasano; the second Mention was assigned to L’occhio di vetro by Duccio Chiarini, chosen by thirty members of an expert audience made up of young critics, scholars and enthusiasts of all ages in collaboration with the Libraries of Rome (Biblioteche di Roma).
