The first sneak previews of the 11th edition: Academy Award winners Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep to meet the audience

In agreement with the president of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma Piera Detassis, the artistic directorAntonio Monda offered some sneak previews of the eleventh edition of the Rome Film Fest, which will take place from October 13^th to 23^rd 2016 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, and extend even further into the Italian capital. The complete programme will be presented during an official press conference to be held at the end of September. Antonio Monda is assisted in his work by a Selection Committee coordinated by Mario Sesti, with members Richard Peña, Giovanna Fulvi, Alberto Crespi, Francesco Zippel, and Valerio Carocci.

The Rome Film Fest will devote plenty of space to meetings with directors, actors, and leading cultural figures.
– Tom Hanks, winner of two Academy Awards for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, the protagonist of three decades of great cinema and of memorable blockbusters such as Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, Apollo 13, The Da Vinci Code, and Bridge of Spies, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. On the occasion of the award ceremony, there will be an event with Antonio Monda, during which sequences of Mr. Hanks’ films and a surprise clip from a film that he particularly loves will be shown. The following day a fifteen-film retrospective will begin, that will include Mr. Hanks’ work as a director. “I consider Tom Hanks to be one of the greatest actors of all time,” Antonio Monda declared, “for the versatility that he commands extending from drama to comedy, for the psychological finesse with which he immortalizes characters who will remain forever in our imagination. His extraordinary talent and profound humanity make him a classic but always contemporary actor: his films and his performances will never be dated.”
– Meryl Streep, winner of three Academy Awards for Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, and The Iron Lady, the exceptionally talented actress who has worked with directors such as Fred Zinnemann, Woody Allen, Sydney Pollack, Robert Zemeckis, and Clint Eastwood, among others, will talk about the great Italian actresses who influenced her, first and foremost Silvana Mangano.
