Thursday September 16th, the renowned director, writer and producer Shahrbanoo Sadat, who fled Afghanistan in August after the Taleban seized Kabul, will be a guest of the Film Festival at Villa Medici to present to the public the screening of her second feature film L’Orphelinat ( The Orphanage). The event, which will be held at Villa Medici (Viale della Trinità dei Monti, 1, Rome) at 9 pm, is organized by the Académie de France in Rome in collaboration with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma and Rome City of Film – UNESCO.
Shahrbanoo Sadat, who won an award at Cannes at a very early age for her debut film Wolf and Sheep, was one of the protagonists of the Rome Film Fest in 2019 as the author of “Qurut”, one of the eleven short films in the anthology film Interdependence.

At the end of the 1980s, fifteen-year-old Qodrat lives in the streets of Kabul and sells movie tickets on the black market. He is a great fan of Bollywood, and dreams of scenes from his favourite films. One day, the police take him to the Soviet orphanage. But in Kabul, the political situation is changing. Qodrat and all the children seek to defend their homes.
The screening will be presented by the director Shahrbanoo Sadat.
