The schedule will open with the film series “W for Welles”, dedicated to one of the masters of the seventh art, Orson Welles, who passed away forty years ago: eight masterpieces selected from his extraordinary filmography will be presented, from Citizen Kane to Touch of Evil, from The Lady from Shanghai to F for Fake.
The anniversary of Italy’s Liberation will be celebrated with a cycle of five cornerstones of Italian cinema, directed by auteurs such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Nanni Loy, Roberto Rossellini, Paolo Taviani and Vittorio Taviani.
On April 17th Carlo Di Palma, the revolutionary cinematographer, would have been one hundred years old. Casa del Cinema will celebrate this anniversary with two films: Blow Up by Michelangelo Antonioni and Manhattan Murder Mystery by Woody Allen, and with a documentary filled with illustrious testimonials. The screening will be preceded by a meeting with the public that will feature author Fariborz Kamkari and Adriana Chiesa Di Palma, Carlo’s wife and producer of the film.
The film of the month will be Bound in Heaven by Huo Xin, which won two important awards at the last Rome Film Fest: the Best Film and Best Debut Film prizes.
The April programme will furthermore be enriched by the preview of The Art of Disobedience by GECO, curated by RIF – Museo delle periferie, and a new event in collaboration with Galleria Borghese, the screening of The Draughtman’s Contract by Peter Greenaway.
