Fondazione Cinema per Roma presents the programme for February at Casa del Cinema. The schedule will be inaugurated by the series “Once upon a time it was 1975”, a series of twelve films by auteurs such as Miloš Forman, Dario Argento, Stanley Kubrick, Sidney Lumet, Lina Wertmüller and Luciano Salce that, fifty years after their release in theatres, still appear remarkably relevant.
The “film of the month” will be Ciao bambino, a film debut that revealed the surprising maturity of Edgardo Pistone, winner of the award for Best Debut Film at the last Rome Film Fest: the film will be presented by the director together with Francesca Comencini.
One hundred years after the birth of Jack Lemmon, Casa del Cinema will pay tribute to the great actor with two films arising from his indissoluble partnership with Billy Wilder, Some Like it Hot and The Apartment, and a third, Missing, by Costa-Gavras, which won an Oscar® for Best Screenplay and the Golden Palm at Cannes.
Casa del Cinema will also celebrate the extraordinary talent of filmmaker Jean Vigo, one hundred twenty years after his birth, bringing back to the big screen the four films that compose his filmography and have made him one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in the history of cinema.
A special event will also be dedicated to Luchino Visconti, with the screening of one of his most famous films, Rocco and his Brothers, preceded by the presentation of the book “Luchino Visconti – Epistolario 1920-1961” edited by Caterina D’Amico de Carvalho and Alessandra Favino (Edizioni Cineteca di Bologna): the curators will talk about it with the audience with the help of director Marco Tullio Giordana and Gian Luca Farinelli, director of the Cineteca di Bologna and publisher of the book.
The February programme will be completed by a new event in collaboration with Galleria Borghese, the screening of Shakespea Re di Napoli by Ruggero Cappuccio and Nadia Baldi.
